This is a flexagon depicting the remarkable quilts of the African American women from Gee’s Bend, AL. They lived in an isolated community for many years until their quilts were discovered in early 2000. They are made from remnants,clothes , corn meal sacks and corduroy.

Carolyn Shattuck divides her time between bookmaking and 2-D collage/printmaking. She graduated from Bard College with a MFA in Painting. She exhibits her work nationally and has received numerous awards.
