About this piece:
Trying Times narrates and traces a solitary journey, travelling through trials and sorrows to grasp at new understandings. Segments of the book unfold to reveal a meandering stitched path across a winter-like landscape; abstracted imagery augments the poetic text by singer-songwriter Cindy Kallett.
The book is constructed with flannel and cotton bedsheets hand-sewn onto Strathmore watercolor paper using Gutermann silk thread. Additional threads, jute and canine hair are also utilized, as well as apple tree twigs. The font is Adobe Caslon Pro. Housed in custom wrapper.
