Artist Statement about work:

In 2008, a dear friend was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. The photos included in this book come from the first day we (four of us) spent together with the diagnosis. It was a beautiful day. Two of the women (sisters) rode their horses, while two of us walked and watched. I incorporated these photos without identifying the “patient” but with a small variety of the cliches she would come to hear all too often during her remaining time.

Created using the following Ideation Deck card draws: color – primary; structure – innovative; image – extracted from a single image (or two); technique – mixed media; layout – historic; text – found; paper – pre-treated. Adjectives: narrative, poetic, opposing or contrasting, intuitive, monotonous
