About this piece:
Sacred Spaces is a limited edition artists’ book incorporating printmaking and composite bookbinding techniques. It is the result of a three-year collaboration between book artist Ann Kresge and poet Dawn Diez Willis. It describes through lists and poetry, sacred places from global traditions. It invites the viewers to configure it as a geometry and approach it as a personal exploration and meditational experience.
As the book object is printed on translucent materials the viewer is invited to use the book with a light source to illuminate its multiple layers. The artists’ intent is that the viewer will excavate the images, poetry and physical possibilities of the book to create their own sacred space.
