Description

About this piece:
How are voters won over? Two campaign strategies to transform opinion and motivate public action are presented on opposite sides of a concertina text screen that burst from a fire cracker case into a night-lighting color-filled display. Lasercut maple munitions caissons designed and crafted by Joe Freedman.

Work started on this project during the 2004 U.S. Presidential election, and it took sharper focus every four years with each successive balloting. The firecracker containers were purchased from a retired sales representative who serviced candy manufacturers. The artwork was collaged and then computer- printed on Moab Entrada rag paper. Additional booklet provides background information, vocabulary list, and mini-dictionary. Joe Freedman designed, laser-cut, and crafted the miniature maple munitions caissons.
