Description

About this piece:
This is a joyful gathering of found images and parts of images including some ‘quotes’ from other artists such as Fernando Botero as well as from an artist friend’s baby picture. It was enormously fulfilling to connect these diverse images in unexpected and sometimes droll ways.

In the process of making this book I used images from James Grant, a California artist who worked abstractly in plastics. Also I used a part of John Ezell’s set design. Other artists included are Alighieri Betti, Gillian Brown, Inga Frick, Alberts Seba, Chris Ofili, and anonymous artists who created exquisite Persian illuminated manuscripts. The sea, sailboat and palm tree image is from a postcard ad I received from The Ritz-Carlton Club about the Residences at Kapalua Bay. I used origami pattern papers scanned into my computer for many of the backgrounds. Each page has a complex design on the front and a simpler design on the back.

Materials:

paper, ink, acrylic, glitter
