About this piece:
Oh, child of the moon, bid the sun arise Oh, child of the moon Give me a misty day, pearly gray, silver, silky faced Wide-awake crescent-shaped smile {from “Child of the Moon,” by the Rolling Stones, 1967} An obscure Rolling Stones song, photographs of the moon from a NASA government publication, sketchbook pages and fragments of proof prints combined into a visual process book of sorts for the series of circle woodblocks I have been working on for the last few years.

Kate Castelli is an artist living and working in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She earned her BFA from Lesley College of Art and Design (formerly the Art Institute of Boston) where she is currently an assistant professor teaching in the Illustration and Art History departments. She received her MFA in printmaking and book arts at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Her work exists at the intersection of books, works on paper, and collections that explore poetic and formal juxtapositions in order to connect what cannot be connected.
