About this piece:
My artist’s books are often inspired by the images and objects that I love to collect. This little book was inspired by my collection of vintage and new cancelled postage stamps and security envelopes. The book is enclosed in a machine sewn cloth envelope and opens up as an accordion. I began the process of creating this book by making miniature collages of postage stamps inspired by quilt squares. I scanned the collages and recreated them as archival inkjet prints on fabric. I backed the fabric with paper and sewed the panels together by machine. The backs of the panels are printed with security envelope patterns on cloth. “For You”, the title of the book, arrived from the idea that the viewer is receiving this postage inspired work as a little package to delight in.
