Description

About this piece:
Climate Odyssey is a year-long sailing expedition and art and science collaboration between Lucy Holtsnider and her partner hydrologist Zion Klos. In July 2015 they set sail from Manitowoc, Wisconsin in a 34’ wooden catamaran Wildcat to document climate change impacts and adaptations along the East Coast of the United States. Over the next year they sailed over 3,500 miles past 13 states with the goal of creating resources that communicate climate change science in a visual and relatable way. They photographed climate change impacts observed and spoke with non-profits, land managers, and fishermen along our route about changes they saw in their local areas. The edition of 10 artists’ books and interactive map are created from stories and images gathered during this Climate Odyssey.

This book is accompanied by a digital interactive version of the collage map seen inside the bamboo sleeve.
The map can be accessed through the QR code on the back of the bamboo sleeve. The book could also be displayed beside an ipad with the map loaded.
