The imagery is a combination of letterpress printing and hand drawn marks generated using chance operations of repetitive gesture and printing. The text is handset letterpress printed 12 point Bembo. A folded letterpress print is included in the pocket of the case. Written, designed, printed, and bound by Marianne Dages, Huldra Press.
This book is a personal response to a trip to Northern Iceland in Fall 2013. Text and image reference arctic exploration, mythology, and archaeological sites in an attempt to bring together past and present, imagined and real.
Marianne Dages is an artist who makes books, drawings, and prints. She uses experimental letterpress techniques to conceptualize language, material, and place. She is the owner of Huldra Press Studio in Philadelphia.
