A memorial tribute, the call letters W-2-L-Z-X belonged to the artist’s Uncle, a ham for over 60 years. He was a radio operator on a B-17 bomber in WWII, and a pioneer in early communications. The edition is composed of nostalgic photographs and collaged QSL cards logged by hams, with personal and historic text, from Morse Code to computers, highlighting international and mass communications. Mindy Belloff creates fine printed book editions at Intima Press in New York City. Whether her own text, or that of a poet or writer, personal mythology resonates, as image and text communicate individual experience. She uses a range of materials from traditional letterpress with leather binding, to glass or copper panels. Her works are in over 50 special collections and archives. She is a MacDowell Fellow and recipient of a 2003 NEA Book Grant. She holds an M.A. from New York University.
