Description

ink, cotton cloth, paper

From the geometrical plane on paper to the sphere in space, Volver a ser presents itself as an artist’s book that evokes transformation and change. To be oneself again means to recover another sense, to go the other way around. This involves movement. That which is circular takes shape in the object, producing shadows that create space and multiply the visions. The action of opening and closing the book makes one come back to the starting point enriched with the playful experience of having rediscovered the sphere: an absolute, perfect figure, which is the symbol of unity. Volver a ser is an artist book of which there exist two copies. Its shape is circular. The materials the book is made of are ancient -paper and ink- and its wrapping is also rendered according to an ancient Japanese folding technique. The whole book was produced by hand with direct drawing techniques. The work done on the wrapping’s fabric and on the book’s paper consists of spots, lines, dots and drops.
