Barbara Brandel – Sketchbook
This books is tactile and luscious. Multi-colored pages of crushed velvet carry landscape derived sketches, the ‘marks’ made with stitches and buttons. A recent visitor to the gallerycould hardly tear herself away, commenting, this book feels so wonderful, I want to take it to bed with me. I wholeheartedly agree.
Barbara Brandel, an artist for forty years, first was well-known as a fiber artist whose work appeared
in Fiberarts, American Craft and Surface Design. Now working in collage, painting, and mixed media
assemblages with buttons, her work has been shown and collected nationally.
