About this piece:
An adventure in the far north, where snow covers all in white. Mixing text by french author Jules Vernes with my own photographs, I take the viewer to a journey across the Arctic, where white is dominant; traveling with a sled dog team through ice, glacier, fog, when sky and earth are so closed we can’t tell them apart. The canvas and fabric used reminds of the softness of the snow, and the glossy paper of the shiny of the ice.
Inkjet printed photos on canvas 100% cotton, velum paper, and transparent paper, white fabric, the whole bound and sewn together, fit in a wooden box.

About the artist:
Magdéleine Ferru is a photographer by trade. She likes material, paper, multi-dimensional. She experiments alternative photographic technics : cyanotype, polaroid, pinhole, caffenol. She learns binding and hand made paper. Artist books take a growing place in her art, mixing visual and feeling. Random and unexpected results of this technics and materials makes her project unique. They invite the viewer to dream, to wander, to questioning also. Her work has been exhibited in Europe, and United States and has integrated private and public collection in France, Germany, and the United States.
