Description
The artist’s book was inspired by the cultural landscape of DC and the illustrative history of the almanac. The book reflects a modern version of an almanac, inspired by historical tradition, but taking into account the changing patterns of the city due to climate change and demographic shifts, with data gathered and expressed in a variety of ways. Working from the Library of Congress’s collection of historical Almanac’s the first half of the book is in the form of traditional farmer’s almanacs- organized charts of dates, weather patterns, planting seasons, tides, etc. The second half is a collection of prints and charts examining everything from water systems, harvesting seasons, seasonal show shifts, farmer’s markets and construction cranes.
