About this piece:
Any sexual relationship might have a transactional element, yet some are celebrated while others are criminalized. This book presents a series of portraits on increasingly shabby walls. Reduction prints, sequence and carefully chosen titles point out language’s power to legitimize or condemn a particular arrangement. Here is the spectrum of Love for Sale.
The book is printed with letterpress, monotype, and linoleum reduction prints. It has inserted giclee prints of eleven original paintings. Drum leaf binding with flyaway spine and cover cutout.
The women in our paintings were based on found photographs of artists’ models in the 1920’s.
The varying colors in the wallpaper are meant to represent sunlight moving across a bedroom wall, as well as the wallpaper becoming dingier and faded over time.

When working individually, they publish under Spell & Bind and Deeply Game Publications. All told, they have 36 years of combined experience publishing artists’ books and have spent twice that long drawing, painting, writing, printmaking, constructing, and experimenting.
