About this piece:
Allowing is a four-leaf book with rectangular openings in the spine edge. The theme of the piece is bestowing yourself the freedom to let your mind wander. The text, cut from black paper in the artist’s hand, reads “allowing thoughts to float in spaces.” The book can be read leaf by leaf or displayed in the round.
The handmade paper was first created with a colored pulp design. The wire-edge binding makes the folding of the stiff leaves very flexible.
