About this piece:
The original material is on 11×17 sheets and would have been very cumbersome to read so the decision was made to make the book as a block book which allows the pages to lay flat without a gutter
The images were scanned from the original drawings and the poetry was printed letterpress from plates made from scans of the poet’s original holograph
In 2012, whilst at the Vermont Studio Center, Kwame Dawes saw a set of 24 Vallarta Drawings by Jon Gregg. he requested a photocopy set of them on 11×17 paper and subsequently wrote his poem directly on the sheets.
There is a separate chap book with the poems set in type

Jon Gregg is the founding Director of the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson Vermont. He draws in his sketch book every day and has for years completed one every month
Kwame Dawes is a poet who was in residence at the Vermont Studio Center and responded to Jon Gregg’s drawings
