about this piece

About this piece:

Safety is Not Promised is a maze book and print addressing the unsophisticated views we, as Americans, hold regarding the abundance of guns in this country. When there are more guns, bigger guns, there is more death, bigger death. We have a problem and we are doing nothing to correct it. Printed as part of the Enough Is Enough Print Exchange done in reaction to the AR-15 gun massacre at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

The imagery is colorful geometric shapes that imply a childlike experience, but the topic of gun violence is very serious and deadly. Children are being killed in schools and adults are doing nothing to solve the problem. The book and the slipcase are covered in bullet holes.
