about this piece
I have made several books using the Interlocking Loops structure that Hedi Kyle invented. I particularly like this structure because the whole book is constructed from a single sheet of paper. In this case, 3 sides of the front of each frame are cut away leaving a square that is folded into a crane. This structure has movement, interplay of light and shadow, and displays nicely.
I like using vintage papers in my work and chose this map of Minnesota for the cream, red and blue colors. It is also a book about travel and making it from a map just made sense.
