About this piece:
Gold Rush is pushing the flag book structure– times 2, making it a double or reversible book, both sides attached to a single spine. It has two covers and two parts of a screen printed image. The stylized image of a bush with golden leaves that lives deep in the forest is a 16 color serigraph by printmaker Jill Timm, done years ago, before the book arts passion took her, now the print has been converted into a book. Includes a descriptive colophon.
The images were photographed by me on one of my many trips into wilderness areas. This was many, many years ago in the California mountains. At that time I did the serigraph (screen print). A couple of years ago I decided to make the print into a book. But how to do that? This book is my solution.
Most flag books only have the flags glued to the front side of the spine. This book has flags on both sides of the spine. This makes it a lot more interesting, also makes it handle a bit different, the flexibly is limited a bit by the flags on both sides.
