Artist Statement about work:

Centralia is inspired by the mine fire in the town of centralia pennsylvania. The images are watercolor and salt, scanned and digitally printed. Text was created by feeding keywords from an article about the mine fire into an online poetry generator, thereby removing myself from the text to create abstract text to pair with the imagery.

Created using the following Ideation Deck card draws: color – highly colorful; structure – codex; image – abstract; technique – hand-drawn / painted; layout – based on grid; text – abstract, non-verbal, gibberish; paper- single color. Adjectives: opposing or contrasting , fragmented or mosaic , graphic , futuristic , humorous
