A nod to Ovid’s Daedelus, The Sky Is Surely Open expresses a desire for escape and freedom. It is a declaration of independence from self-imposed limits and acknowledges the role of hope in moving beyond them.

Macey Ley is a self-proclaimed nomad whose work is influenced by the experience of being rootless. The form of her work follows the concept and ranges from painting and sculpture to installations and artist books. She completed her BFA in photography at the University of New Mexico and her MFA in painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design. She is a corporate event producer and creative director and has curated shows and exhibited throughout the U.S. and Italy. Recent exhibitions include PEACE: What Does It Mean to You? at the Breman Museum, You Are Here at Further Polycontemporary, Looks Good on Paper at Spruill Gallery, Mending: New Uses for Old Traditions at the CAB Art Gallery at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and at LaGrange Art Museum in the LaGrange National XXVIII Biennial. She lives and works in Atlanta, Georgia.
