About this piece:
This piece is in memory of a beloved niece, who loved to travel. Following her last trip, she commissioned calligraphy from me of the word “Tazisto,” which she said she invented to express zest for life, a characteristic she had in abundance. A piece of that calligraphy, written in bleach on black paper, is incorporated as the cover for this book, along with some of the colors and imagery that brought her joy.
This piece combines original calligraphy with my own lithographs, colored pencil, and a found map of Italy.
