The Books of the Ships is a set of 8 one of a kind accordion books to be exhibited as one completed piece. The books contain collages on rust dyed paper made by the artists out of each others individual work. The covers are patinaed copper plates and the box is milk painted redwood.

About the artist:

Lives and works in Oakland, California, United States

Penelope Anstruther is a British interdisciplinary artist working in Oakland, CA. Drew Grasso is a printmaker from California, living and working in Oakland. Their collaborative relationship began in 2017 and together they have had two solo shows in Oakland and Atlanta, Georgia. Pieces range from video, installation, painting, photography, and paper-making with a focus on print and book-making. Their works are informed by their individual practices and are often created by sacrificing solo works to be repurposed and appropriated in the collaborative process.
