About this piece:

The pandemic brought a dramatic change to my family’s lifestyle. We relocated from a busy, crowded city to a quieter, rural life. I now have time and space for studio work. One thing that remains – the summer sound of the cicadas, always a reminder of warm summer nights and good times. Those summer days end, as do the lives of cicadas.

Cicada features the haiku Cry of the Cicada written by Matsuo Basho, translated by William George Aston. This treasure box book was created using preserved cicadas and handmade papers with hand written text.
