About this piece:

This work embodies the experience of momentary memory recall, in particular sensory memory. The combination of hand-lettered text, the presence of the coffee beans, and the structure of the lidded box come together to convey the experience of the personal, the intimate.

About the artist:

Suzanne Glémot is an MFA candidate in Book Arts at the University of Iowa Center for the Book as well as an MA candidate in Library and Information Science. Originally form France, she moved to the United States in 2009 to attend college. She earned her BA in Studio Art with a minor in museum studies from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, in 2013.
In her work, Glémot employs a variety of meticulous image-making techniques to create book objects that support and elevate the texts they hold. Hand-cut designs, lettering, letterpress printing and binding are regular features of her work.
