About this piece:
L’ isle Joyeuse is inspired by the piano piece of the same name by French composer Claude Debussy, which emotionally evokes the atmosphere of my daily surroundings on Treasure Island in San Francisco. Designed and printed by Yishu Wang in 2014 at the Academy of Art University, San Francisco, California.The edition was screen printed by hand with TW Graphics inks on Rives BFK and Hahnemuhle Bugra paper.In editions of 10.
L’ isle Joyeuse is hand printed and bonded by Yishu Wang at San Francisco. The images all comes from the landscape of Treasure Island of San Francisco.

Yishu Wang is an artist work in the mediums of printmaking and painting. Her recently series, Life is Elsewhere, is inspired by the experience of living abroad. Challenged by exposed to the unfamiliar language, culture, the modes of thinking, Yishu expressed this struggling self-searching journey by her works which respond to her thinking of how the different circumstance define individual. Yishu use silkscreen and intaglio techniques to express my thinking while she is abroad. She experimentally utilize the repeatability of printmaking to venture into Book art and installation.
